How does GPS clock-in work?

When an employee taps Clock In on their phone, Boncks captures their GPS coordinates. The location is stamped on the shift so you can verify they were on site. Coordinates appear as a tappable link in Timesheets and on the live Map — tap to open the spot in Google Maps.

Does Boncks work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Boncks runs in any modern mobile browser — there is no app to install. Your team just opens boncks.com on their phone, signs in, and clocks in.

How are overtime and double-time calculated?

Accepted Answer

You set the rules in Settings: weekly OT threshold (e.g. 40 hrs), optional daily OT threshold (e.g. 8 hrs), and an optional double-time threshold (e.g. 12 hrs). Boncks splits each shift into Regular, OT, and DT automatically and applies your multipliers in payroll exports.

Can I group employees into teams with a leader?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Admins create teams from the Teams page, assign employees, and pick exactly one Team Leader per team. The leader can then start and complete the team's work orders from their phone — no admin login needed.

Can a team leader mark a job complete?

Accepted Answer

Yes — but only for work orders assigned to their own team. Regular employees can see jobs assigned to them and to their team, but only the leader (or an admin) can change the status from Pending → In Progress → Completed.

Can I assign a job to a single employee instead of a team?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When creating a work order you choose to assign it to an entire team OR to one specific employee. Both are first-class options.

Can my crew get directions to the job site?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you add a job address to a work order, every team member sees a one-tap Get Directions button on their phone. It opens Google Maps on Android, Apple Maps on iPhone, and Google Maps on the web — with turn-by-turn navigation already loaded.

Can I see work orders on the map?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every work order with an address that has a status of Pending or In Progress appears as a colored pin on the live map — purple for Pending, orange for In Progress. Tap a pin to see the job title, customer, assigned team or employee, and address. Completed work orders are automatically removed from the map so it stays clean.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 14 days, completely free, no credit card required. After that it's a flat $9.99/month for unlimited employees (price increasing to $19.99 soon — lock in now). Cancel anytime.

What happens if an employee forgets to clock out?

Accepted Answer

Set a Max shift hours value in Settings (e.g. 12). Boncks will auto-trim a forgotten clock-out, block edits that exceed the max, and a background job sweeps any still-open shift past your max every 15 minutes. Auto-closed shifts are flagged so you can follow up.

Can I export hours to QuickBooks or my payroll provider?

Yes. Reports gives you a payroll-ready CSV with regular, overtime, and double-time hours per employee for any date range. Import it into QuickBooks, Gusto, ADP, or your spreadsheet of choice.

Is my company's data private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each company is fully tenant-isolated at the database level. Employees only see their own shifts and work orders; admins only see their company's data. We never share or sell your data.

What if my crew loses internet on a job site?

Accepted Answer

The clock-in button works as long as the page is loaded. As soon as the device reconnects, the punch syncs. We recommend opening Boncks while on Wi-Fi at the start of the day.

Do employees get notified about new jobs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. As soon as you create or assign a work order, every team member (or the assigned employee) gets a push notification on their phone — no need to refresh the app. They also get notified when they're added to a team. Notifications work on Android out of the box; on iPhone, employees need to install Boncks to their home screen first.

Does the app track location in the background?

Boncks uses a Wake Lock to keep the screen active while an employee is clocked in, which keeps GPS tracking running. If the employee switches apps and comes back, an immediate GPS update fires on return. However, if the browser tab is fully closed or the phone is locked, tracking pauses until the app is reopened — this is a browser security limitation, not a Boncks limitation. Installing Boncks to the home screen (PWA) gives the best results.

Do I need to download an app from the App Store?

No. Boncks runs in any modern browser — there's nothing to install. But for the best experience, your crew can add Boncks to their home screen in one tap. It opens full-screen like a native app, stays signed in between shifts, and improves live location tracking reliability.

Can I set weekly work schedules for each employee?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open Schedules in the admin dashboard, pick an employee, and set their start and end times for each day of the week. They see their schedule instantly on the Schedule tab on their phone — no more texting 'what time do I start?'

Can employees request days off?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Employees tap Request Day Off on the Schedule tab, pick a date, add an optional reason, and submit. You get the request on the Schedules page and can approve or reject it with one tap.

Can I manage multiple locations?

Yes. You can create up to 3 named locations (e.g. Main Office, Kenner Branch) with full addresses. Assign employees to locations, and use the location picker on the admin dashboard to filter everything — timesheets, schedules, work orders, and reports — by site. Your first location is set up during signup.

Does Boncks have built-in accounting?

Yes. Boncks includes a full bookkeeping module with an IRS-aligned chart of accounts (25+ categories pre-seeded for you), income and expense tracking with receipt uploads, and payroll costs auto-calculated from your existing timesheets. You get on-screen P&L, Balance Sheet, Payroll, and Expense reports — and when tax time comes, one click downloads a ZIP file with PDF summaries, CSVs, and all your receipt images organized by month. Hand the ZIP to your tax preparer and you're done. It's included at no extra cost.

Yes. Boncks includes a full invoicing suite — create professional invoices and quotes with your company logo, send them directly from your own business email via SMTP, and track payments. Choose from multiple invoice templates (Classic, Modern, Compact), add line items with tax and discounts, and your customers get a shareable link to view the invoice and pay online. Quotes can be converted to invoices with one click.

How do recurring invoices work?

Set up a recurring invoice template with a customer, line items, and a frequency (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly). Boncks automatically generates and optionally sends the invoice on schedule. You can pause and resume any recurring invoice, and view the full history of generated invoices per template.

Can my customers pay online?

Yes. Add your payment link (PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, Stripe, etc.) in Invoicing Settings. Every invoice and the customer portal will show a 'Pay Now' button that takes your customer directly to your payment page. Customers don't need a Boncks account — they view the invoice via a unique shareable link.

Does Boncks send overdue reminders automatically?

Yes. Enable automatic overdue reminders in Invoicing Settings. Boncks checks daily for unpaid invoices past their due date and sends email reminders through your SMTP connection. You control the interval between reminders (e.g. every 7 days) and the maximum number of reminders per invoice (e.g. 3). You can also send manual reminders anytime from the invoice list.
